Faq - Hangouts
-
Hangouts are community groups that people run based on the things that they are passionate about, skilled/ talented in or love to do.
-
Hangouts run termly for up to 10 weeks depending on the school term. Within that term Hangouts operate either weekly or fortnightly dependent on the Host running the group.
-
Exciting! Head over to The Render Gathering website www.therendergathering.com and click into our hangouts tab and fill out and submit the application.
-
There are many ways to join a Hangout
On our website www.therendergathering.com/hangouts

Yes. Hangouts are available in person and on online platforms such as zoom, google meets, facebook etc.
-
Awesome. We will go through training around basic processes and procedures prior to the term starting as well as ongoing support throughout the term.
-
There are no limitations to numbers and people who can join. It is open to everyone and anyone who is wanting to come along.
-
It depends on the Hangout. For example, it may be a coffee hangout for people who love coffee, so you would need to pay for your coffee and so on.

-
Yes you can pick the day and time however, you as a Host must be committed to that day and time. Be consistent with your day and time.
-
Yes kids can attend Hangouts that cater for them. If for any reason you can’t find a sitter then communicate with your host and work out a plan so you can still attend.
-
There are hangouts that are gender specific. The host decides who their group is catered for otherwise, we also have hangouts that are open for everyone.
-
That’s awesome! We love connecting with new people. The same rules would apply, if they are sick to stay home and if they aren’t comfortable being in an environment with other people then we have online options to keep them engaged as well.
-
Weekly. It is important to ensure that your members hear from you and that you check in with them regularly. Care is important and members should be cared for within your hangout too.
-
It helps to have a plan or an idea as to what you want to do throughout the term. We have what we call “Coaches” who support and journey through the term with you. It isn’t compulsory however, it is helpful so I would recommend having a plan.

Communicate with your Coach. They should always be aware of your plans and details for your Hangout so ensuring that they are aware is important.
-
If someone can’t attend your hangout, offer an online alternative otherwise check in with them in the week ensuring that you still connect with them. If you see that there is a pattern of them not attending, get support from your coach to encourage them to come along.
-
Yes. Videos are important like our photos. They help to showcase what your hangout is about and help reach our community. The quality is important, what you take footage of is important so this will be included in the training to help support and equip you.
Health & Safety Overview:
-
You can approach your Host/s for any concerns, questions or support and they will be happy to help.
-
We would advise that you not attend in person if you are unwell, stay home until you are feeling better. However, I would encourage going online to stay connected with your Hangout (if you feel up for it).
-
Yes you can bring your children along if hangouts permit otherwise, some hangouts operate without children. The best way to help this would be to communicate with your host and plan accordingly from there.
